Mike,

There were a few different runs of the 3 inch 586. The one you are referring to is it non fluted or fluted cylinder?

Eric

Rollin', dont have an idea how many were made but they were all in the time period. I have one. They are the hardest to find short barrelled L frame. The next scarcest is the 586 2 1/2 incher. 1993-1994 comes to mind. Value? The one that sold for 1450 is right on. Not high, not low.

P.S. sent you a PM

Dang Rollin... I know why you are askin! You are the lucky dude that caught that one on our local forum! What a break! Just my luck to not be logged in at the right time on that one! You gotta share pics when you get it!
Oh, and let me know if you want to turn a little profit on it!:D

If I recall right, I believe there was 2 runs of the fluted 586-4's with 500 in each run and was for RSR. Then I seen only 3 unfluted 586-3 3" and were some kind of export gun. You picked up a nice 3 inch Smith. Congrats.

If I recall right, I believe there was 2 runs of the fluted 586-4's with 500 in each run and was for RSR. Then you had another batch of the non fluted 586's which not sure exactly how many of those were made, but definitely are less than the fluted 586-4's and were made for another country. Price wise, I think for the fluted version, 1400 is high especially considering that there is not a huge following for a 3 inch 586 like there is for say a 66. I would say 1200-1250 range if NIB for the fluted version. The unfluted version would bring more. I have seen 3 of the fluted 3 inch 586's sell over the last 3 months on gun broker in loose 98+ condition for 750-925 range. Either way you picked up a nice 3 inch Smith. Congrats.

Eric

Eric,

Thank you for the info. I think I will have it lettered as well.
