Got a used M&P 9c not long ago and haven't had a chance to try it out. Before I take it out I want to thoroughly inspect, clean, and lube it. I've got the factory owner's manual, but I'd like to know if there is anything I need to be careful/aware of about before I start.

Yup,
The "tool" that's in the base of the grip housing used during tear down, is in there tighter than a cat's a** stretched over a rain barrel, until it's been in and out a half dozen times. I'm not using it after my first antler dance getting it out. Very easy take down. NO OIL IN STRIKER AREA! In fact sparing lube everywhere indicated. Too much oil causes far more problems than it solves.
Fine gun!

Spotteddog, now that is a visual. LMAO!

"Fine gun!" +1

I am issued a MP9, and bought a 9c for off duty carry. I have found both to be trouble free, great shooters, and really like them. As others have said, keep lube to a minimum, follow the manual instructions.
