I'm a fairly big man 300lbs 6'1" with a long upper body... I would like some advice on what kind of holster options are available and comfortable for some one of my size... my carry gun will be a m&p .40 full size

Coming from this 6'2" 320lb guy, most holster options are available. With the right holster and belt, you can conceal an RPG.

If, like me, good gun belts are hard to find, (54") have one made. Ray Cory @ LoBo Gunleather just made me a new one and it's great. Somewhere around $80.00 and about 5weeks.

I prefer OWB, at around 3:00 or 3:30ish, strong side. I have carried cross draw with an "N" frame, ankle holster with a "J" frame, and a 1911 in a "*******" shoulder rig. They all have their purposes. You'll have to experiment with a few and decide what's best for you. If you have a friend who carries, odds are he (or she) has the required bag of holsters somewhere and could loan you some for trial. Then you can avoid the "bag". (I counted mine the other day and I have 17, not counting my EDC holster).

This is excellent advice. Holsters are a personal choice. I've got more then 17, and still looking for the "perfect" one.

+ 1 for Lobo Gunleather. On the left, enhanced pancake with a Glock 26. On the right, standard pancake in cordovan brown with a S&W 5943TSW. Both very comfortable.

Ruseter I am 6"5" and 260 and have been carrying a handgun everyday for 44 years. I have tried about every variation and change my method from time to time to fit the circumstances but always come back to a high rise strong side holster. Really important though that you have a good stiff belt (the leather kind that holds your pants up) that is made for carrying a pistol otherwise you will be plagued by a gun and holster that feels floppy on your side and feels like it is always trying to pull your britches down. Jerry Bissell makes a great belt for a reasonable price with fast turnaround. Here is the link:
