Need some help/advice with a pinto 27 *update 5/18* Now with letter!

Nice work! You can probably find someone to trade you the proper Magna stocks for those N frame Combats, but I think finding the smooth Targets like those on 230grfmj's gun will be a lot more difficult. I'll bet it will letter as a factory pinto.

I'm going to wait until I letter it first before I buy new(old) grips to find out what it came with whether Target or Magnas. Being as it's a custom order gun to begin with, it might not have come with Magnas... And I hope I could find someone willing to trade when the time comes. That would save me a big headache!

Thanks for the kudos. I appreciate it.

While I'm at it, I also like to "show off" these two which are also factory legit!!

SHOW OFF!! :P

I suspect it started as a nickel gun and the frame has been blued. The 6.5" barrel is uncommon.

I'm bettin' it's legit. Either way it turns out, congratulations on a nice gun!

And, 230grfmj, there is somethin' that just ain't right about havin' so many pintos! Man, them are pretty!:)

Two-tone N-frames from the 50s were usually marked in the following way: a B was stamped on the lower left hand corner of the grip frame indicating a blue finish; an N was stamped in the ejector rod shroud indicating the barrel was finished in nickel; the cylinder may or may not have an N stamped on it under the extractor head.

The blued ejector rod is correct for a revolver of this vintage.

The ejector rod on two-tone revolvers was blued until the sometime in the late 50s, when it was changed to nickel. The two-tone below was shipped in December 1952. The 44 Magnum was shipped in 1972 and has a nickel plated ejector rod.

I'll update this thread with better pics when I pick it up, but knowing how slow the state is with paperwork, it'll probably be a 2 week wait. :(

That will give you some time to pick up the rosewood targets for it

I'm not picking up anything until the letter comes back from Roy indicating what grips it actually shipped with, and I can't send the letter to Roy until I get the gun because I forgot the Serial #.. lol

I'm ready with my first born when any of you decide to unload any one of those revolvers...........

PS.....He's 33 yoa, and eats a lot......

Just FYI. Everyone who posted pictures. I hate you, I'm so envious. I mean that in the nicest way possible. :)

*update* leaving the gun store now. Should have pics later. Standby

here we go with the pics. There is an "N" in the extractor shroud, and on the cylinder under the extractor. There is a "B" on the frame under the grips. All numbers match. Just gotta save up the $50 to mail away to Roy and get the correct grips.

You Sir have done very well indeed. Seems legit to me and worth the money all the way. A true beauty - hope I stumble into a Pinto someday too. Can't wait to hear about the letter...
