Need some help dating a 28-2...

Hello, I'm just trying to date a friend's 28-2 Highway Patrolman. Serial number is S289xxx. I'm thinking mid 1960's, but I'm not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Most likely made in 1967. It probably has stocks with the smooth diamond around the screw escutcheon. Those went away about this time, but usually were still on guns that shipped in 1967.
There is a slight sale price premium on the Highway Patrolman with the S prefix serial numbers. These ended in about 1970.
