I've been looking for a red dot sight for my 15-22 and can't really tell much about quality from the reviews on amazon or other sites. I am looking at the Bushnell Tactical T-dot, NcStar D4B and several Barska models. I'd like to keep it under $100, and all but the Bushnell are under $100, but which ones are worth the money and which aren't? Are there others I should be looking at/for? Thanks in advance for any info!

That's what I'm looking for, actual experience/info on how good the quality is on these red dots. I'd like to keep my budget at or around $100 but I'm more concerned with quality.

Here's my Sightmark from Gunkings for $79.99/free shipping. I love it was shooting 1-1/14" groups at 21 paces

ive got a couple of each you asked about nc stars r nice for the money bushnells are alittle more price but they are just as nice if not nicer... the barskas are decent for the coin but fit and finish is pretty poor.. but they r pretty dang cheap.. kinda disposible... here is what my nc star looks like on my m&p 15-22.. the only reason the cross hairs are at an angle is that im not skilled enough to hold the rifle up on target and operate the camara

Horrible flash photo, but it shows how my M&P15-22 "M68COO" mimics the real item on my circa 1990 M4. KISS.

For a .22.... pick one and be happy.

The major working differences are dot size and sharpness. Large dot 5MOA and above is easier to see but covers up more target at distance. Small Dot is not as easy to see but covers up less target. Then there is dot quality (fuzziness). That's really hit and miss unless you get into the upper end, and even then I have seen lousy ones. I took a look thru an expensive Burris and the dot looked like a cluster of grapes. My $29 BSA is sharp as a tac and I have beat it up for years.

One of the best cheap red dots that I use is a SightMark reflex. It cost $40 and has the smallest and sharpest dot I have seen in anything under $100 and holds zero. Though, it isn't great to use in bright direct sunlight.

From what I was told by a 20 year IPSC shooter. Was for the most part, any optic $100 and under will generally be of the same quality. I personally have a $40 center point red dot from walmart on mine and love it. As far the 5 moa dot size covering the target at longer ranges I find that turning down the brightness to the lowest aloud to still be seen given the lighting conditions you are shooting in seems to work fine.

I would agree with Phil's comment, " for a .22... pick one and be happy." Because all that you read about " this scope will hold zero even on a 12gauge shotgun" does not apply when talking about a .22lr. And unless you are shooting some serious target matches, spend a little on the optic and spend a lot on your many many rounds of ammo you'll go through!

With a large dot you can also just use the top edge of the dot using a 6oclock sight position. For bullseye shooting it works great.
