need the advice of 15-22 owners

here's my dilemma, I have one on order from 4 weeks ago, its the 81033 model with flash suppressor. I found some in stock at Gander MT for around the same price but it's one of the models with no flash suppressor. I spoke with the guy at gander and all the ones he has have been already sent back to the factory for the recall. Since then he has not had any problems with customers having guns jam. So S&W must have fixed them.

So what do I do? no one can tell me how long my back order will take. I can however get one in my hands tomorrow that has already gone through the recall S&W had.....need some advice.

That's a tough call. I have an early model (purchased at Cabelas 12-09). I wish I had the threaded barrel or the MOE. I ended up buying the stuff later and may send the barrel out. I would wait and not settle, but you could go either way and still be happy with a great gun. BTW S&W only had my gun 8 days round trip for the repair/update. I received fantastic customer service. Good luck what ever you decide. You'll love the M&P 15-22!

I would not want to wait and get one NOW. They are way too much fun to shoot to be waiting. I think you will be just fine with any rifle S&W has fixed. Go for it. IMHO

for the earlier models that had feeding and ejection problems. He said it was a recall and had to send his inventory back to the factory to get fixed.

Oh. I didn't think there was an official "recall." Some owners have older models that didn't experience problems. Regardless...

The Gander guy must have some old stock. I thought the older guns were from around a year or two ago.

Some have reported extremely long waits on back order. If I saw one in the store (updated) I would buy it right then and there, rather than wait.

yeah I think I will go get it....now I have to find a decent slip on fake suppresor.....it's no biggie I guess but the straight barrel just bugs me

I would wait for the one I REALLY wanted.

I bought the plain barrel model in March of 2010 at Gander Mtn also because I couldn't put my hands on the suppressed model. I never was really satisfied with the way it looked so after a few months I ended up spending another $75.00 to have the barrel threaded and a suppressor installed.

The wait will be worth it to you, kind of like waiting for a custom AR upper to be built...after you get it you will be glad you were patient.

By the way, don't know the reason but I have never seen a suppressed model in any of the local Gander Mtn stores.

I can't find an 81033 anywhere, even on S&W's site. Are you sure you don't mean 811033, with the Flash Supressor? That's the one I have.

I picked up the 811030...I will just get a barrel shroud from tacticool. I took it to my dads house to site in the irons, 6 rounds later I was dialed in It had blue springs in it, I did a rapid fire on a mag full of cci mini mags and it ate it right up.....so far so good. The look on my daughters face when she held it was priceless
