I’m working on a package deal with a local guy. Some of what he has I want for myself and some of it I would get with the intention of passing along. I’d need to know if this deal is worth it for me to go ahead with. These are what I’d be passing along. Keeping mind every one of these is is EXCELLENT condition. What could I get for these? Thanks in advance.

1974 Colt Python 6” blue
1983 S&W 586 no dash 6”
1980 S&W 29-2 6”
1969 S&W 19-3 6”
1966 S&W 15-2 4”
2011 Taurus Judge 3” w/ crimson trace grip

I’ll wait for more knowledgeable members to chime in on values, but feel pretty confident in saying this. The 29-2 will always be desirable. A 19-3 also desirable, even if 6” isn’t everyone’s favorite. Pinned and recessed magnums always draw attention. Early 586s also draw plenty of attention.

Old Pythons certainly command value, can’t comment on what the reintroduction of the model a few years ago has done for the value of the old ones, though.

Checking completed GB auctions is a good indicator of what people are willing to pay.

Please offer them on the forums classifieds if you get to that point. We are your target audience.

Running through it quick, like I had to make a decision right now, and I'm leaving room for error, I came up with $5,000 would be safe. But you could probably go to maybe $6,000 if you could spend some time really researching it.

It also depends on if you're trying to make money on it or just jettison the undesirables. Plus how much time you wish to spend selling the surplus. There's a big spread there.

Of course he'll think they are worth $9,000. But if you're selling everything in one big lot you have to discount. The buyer is either a pro looking for a profit or he doesn't want everything. A lot of sellers think they should be able to sell their entire collection for top dollar on every piece sold separately. Nope.

Seller is being fair. I’m really just more of a short barrel guy. 4” or less. That’s why these would get passed along. I’m not looking to flip for profit. More just recoup on these to be able to acquire the ones I want to keep. The Judge is neat but not my thing.

That list has some very nice guns in it. But too much is left unsaid to give a realistic value. $4k-10K?

Excellent condition in your eye might not be excellent in a buyer's eye.

Do they come with the original box and paperwork?

How would you sell them?

I only allowed $300 for the Judge, as it's not my thing either.

I’d list them on a single ad but sell individually to whoever was interested. I’m supposed to meet up with him tomorrow. The 29-2 has its box and tools. The judge has its box. The others do not. All together I’d need to be in the $5500-6000 range to make it worth it.

I’m more in $4K bracket if I’m buying stuff I don’t want. Not paying top book / auction average for each piece. When I get in these I want to turn them around in 30days or less.

It all kind of depends on the Condition of the guns. Is the Python a $2,000 gun, $2,500 gun or $3,000 gun? The difference between a 95% gun and 99% gun can be substantial. Same question on the 29-2 with the box and tools. Pristine condition will add $$$ vs average condition.
