This car is sitting on my work property. Hard to tell but it used to be a good looking car. I believe that it's a 67 or 68 Caddy convertible. Don't remember the model name. When I first started working here, back in 02 it was a running car that needed a paint job. The owner of the car drove it around occasionally on weekends with the intent to repaint and restore. 65k original miles and a mint condition red interior with a convertible top. I once offered to buy it from him.

Today it sits in this spot, overgrown and rusty. The interior looks like it's molded with a family of large spiders living in it, judging by the massive amount of cobwebs.

Some folks would rather have their cars rot than sell them because they think they will restore them "some day."

That's exactly what it is. When I offered to buy it it was a running, driving car. Had some minor rust spots here and there but nothing major. No rot. It's been in that spot for probably 10 years now

If he was an older guy he could of crossed over to the other side by now.

Neh. I see him every week on Tuesday. He's in his early to mid 60s. He retired but has a couple of side business, one requires him to stop by on Tuesdays

That picture reminded of the TV special Life After People.

It more reminded of that but also one of those Walking Dead episodes where they were hacking away at vines and such-and discovered what was in hiding behind them. I miss that other show and thought it was well made.
Not this episode but, it'll do:

One that featured this guy tho:

That's a real shame!, Some people just don't have the brains they were born with! ;)

That reminds me of when I worked for a Toyota Dealership in the late 70's.
They had a 1967 Toyota 2000GT in the showroom.
Pretty much pristine condition. Beautiful car.
Looked like this:

Then they moved it to a gravel back lot and there it sat in the weeds, on 4 flat tires, rusting.

Wow, those are worth some really big bucks nowadays. If it's still there and hasn't turned to rust, go offer them a few thousand for it. :D

Some people will have emotional attachments to an old car. They'd rather keep it as a rust out relic, than have someone else take it away and out of their lives. Maybe the car is a reminder or symbol of something. That it runs or not is immaterial. Then again, it could just be a heap of junk. :o

If that's all that's wrong with it...

I know people that would take a car like that and restore it. Not only do they get rid of the mold and branches and leaves, but the spiders and snakes, too.

My Brother-in-Law does tis regularily. He has at least 2 or ore various cars and trucks sitting on 10 acres near Orange Grofe, Tx, and several more at his house.

Last year he finished hs 1929 Model "A" and his 1915 T-Bucket. Currently-he's working on his 1943 Willy's Jeep-bought around $7,000 worth of old "new stock" parts.I cant wait to see the final product. :)

Update.

Guy finally offered it to me for free if I'm willing to restore it! After it has been sitting in that spot for a decade I decided to pass. Prior to that it was running and driving with some minor rust spots. Without even climbing through what's probably tick infested bushes I had figured it was badly rusted by now.

Well low and behold someone pulled it out of the bushes (trees at this point)
