As the title says I’ve never purchased anything from CTD but I’m considering doing it today and I want to know what your experiences have been.

If it makes a difference I’m buying LaserLyte training kit (fake gun, cartridge and target) for 170.00 plus ( I ***.u.me) shipping

*UPDATE*
I went ahead and got the laserlyte kit last night it ended up costing 184.00$ (giver or take some change) and should be at my home in 3 to 5 business days. I’ll let you all know how it turns out

I did look around locally but no one had it in stock and no one was selling the items as a set except CTD. All I found were the individual components for around 250.00$ total

They may be "cheaper than dirt" but they're not cheaper than other retailers.Obviously their name is a nice marketing ruse to lure the novice buyer.

I have bought some things from them in the past but now that I have broadened my online experience I wont shop there any more. It's only because of their prices and not necessarily the quality of items.

I have used them on occasion in the past without any issues. Just be aware the price for an item can vary, depending on what warehouse they are shipping from.

They received a lot of bad press for price gouging during the recent ammo / AR shortage.

Two ways to look at it - One, if you really needed something, they probably had it available when no one else did, but at a price.. Two, they are just out for profit at the expense of their customers. Of course, there would have been NO selection available, just like everyone else, if they had kept their prices at retail.

Pick one.....

I've never had any issue buying something from there. I've never bought ammo, but have bought some holsters and other gear.

About 10 years ago I bought a steel jerry can from them. 10 bucks plus 6 bucks shipping. It arrived full of rust. I called and said, "You need to send me a new one - this one is no good." They sent me my ten dollars back. Not the 6 shipping - just the 10 cost.

In 08 when Obama got elected and everyone was scared about his gun policies, and all guns and ammo increased in price about 30%, CTD doubled their prices.

In 12 when he got reelected, and folks were REALLY scared because now he did not have to worry abour reelection, and all gun and ammo prices went up 60 to 80%, CTD prices quadrupled.

Don't buy from them. They are leeches.

I dealt with them in the past when their prices were pretty good. No longer though as it seems I can do better elsewhere. I wasn't a fan either of their recent prices on things most sought after. I still get their emails and notice prices have fallen again now.

Comparatively shop whatever you are looking at with other online retailers. Make sure you know their shipping charges before you click "send".

I don't begrudge a retailer to set whatever price they wish, if it's more than I want to pay I just won't buy it from them. As for Cheaper than Dirt, they usually don't have the best price but if they do then I'd have no problem buying from them as they ship quickly and I've never had any problems with anything I've received from them.

Years ago they were a decent company. But they have changed over time and not for the better.
To begin with, most of the stuff they sell is junk. Oh, they do have some good stuff, but the vast majority is worn out, useless surplus stuff most people couldn't give away.
Then they have four, maybe five warehouses now. If you order multiple items and they have to come from different warehouses, they charge seperate shipping for each one. Even the shipping from a single warehouse is outragous.
Customer service is non-existant. If what you buy is bad or broken, well.... good luck with that.
And of course there is the afore mentioned gouging of prices.

Frankly, I'd be happy to pay more to get the same item from a reputable company than take a chance with CTD.

CTD needs to change their name to HTS. Please don't make me explain, I like it here. :) They are scalpers and I wont deal with them again. People are upset with Potterfield (Midway USA) for canceling back orders, I think he just couldn't keep up. I think he's a gentleman and great supporter of the NRA. That's a far cry from scalping like CTD did. IMO.
