Never shop at BoTach

I will not be using Botach BotachTactical.com anymore and would not recommend them to anyone. This is because of both my encounter and also a friend's encounter with them. This is my dealings with them. I was looking for a light/laser for my pistol. They had one for a great price (50% off). This transaction went very well. Second I needed a red dot sight for my shotgun. Again they had what I wanted for around 50% off. Again this transaction went smoothly. Both were for around $90 (MSRP close to $200). Then I again found some 5.11 pouches on sale. The site said in stock. I placed an order for 4 pouches (under $20). After a week or so I had not heard anything. I contacted them to find out about my order and shipping info. I was told that they were out of stock and on back order. They informed me I could wait till they were back in stock or cancel my order. I replied to keep my order. I waited for about three months (keeping a check on my order) I got an email that my order had been canceled by BoTach. I went to the website when I got the email, to find the pouches were again listed IN STOCK at full MSRP. A close friend was looking for an item that they show to have IN STOCK. He ordered 20 of them. Again a week went by and no update or shipping info was sent to him. He contacted them to be told the same thing, back ordered he could keep or cancel his order. He kept his order. At this time I had started looking for an Aimpoint Pro. I contacted BoTach; I wanted to make sure they had it in stock before I placed the order. I expressed my concern about past transactions. I never heard back from them. They lost a sale on a pricey optic. Finally after a couple months my friend got an email his order came in and was shipped out. His card was charged; they added $5 to each of his items. He was charged $100 over what he placed the order for. On top of that when his order came in there were only three items in the package. I have not yet been informed of the outcome of my friends order but I know I will never go back. I will never recommend them to anyone. I intend to post a copy of this on every social site I am a member of. Also I intend to send a copy of this to BoTach along with a copy of all the links were they can see this posted.

OP, sorry to hear of your troubles. I've had several great transactions with Botach. Great prices, prompt, and free, shipping.

My last order had a snag, as they were not able to ship everything that I ordered; hello, have you tried to order gun related items lately, there's a bit of a problem out there! They did not charge me for what wasn't delivered, so while disappointed, I was not upset. I tend to cut people some slack in this world, its not all about me, and nobody is perfect. This being said, i will not tolerate being ripped off, or lied to... A couple of weeks after I placed this latest order, a rep from Botach called me to ask if I wanted the brown translucent Lancer mags, rather than the smoke translucent Lancer mags that I ordered, because they got in the brown ones in, and had no idea when the smoke ones would come in. Pretty good customer service, I thought...

Not trying to minimize your experience, but I have had good luck with Botach, and find them to be a credible online shop. These days, i would imagine its difficult for any firearms/ammo related shop to avoid having some sort of service/inventory related issues...

Botach even has honest to goodness real, live people you can call (or IM), and reach, if you have a question. I saw that they also recently had a 'Feinstein' giveaway drawing of a EBR, I thought that was pretty awesome...! I believe they are coming from a good place, but sounds like they need to make something right by you, or you can just shop somewhere else. Personally, I'll shop with them again.

Dealing with them is like walking through a mine field, just because some of your friends walked through without getting blown up doesn't mean you will.

Botach sucks. Just because they manage to do their job without incident the majority of the time doesn't change the fact that when they don't (and it happens A LOT), they can really bend the poodle over.

Honestly, you have to expect anything in this environment. Im not gonna tell you your gripes aren't justified but i will tell you recently i had a similar situation happen with Brownells. We all know how credible they are and they did it too. All these companies are overwhelmed with business. I just decided to place an order through Midway instead which went very smoothly.

I had one bad experience similar to the OP so never again. there are too many retailers out there to try a bad one again. In my opinion.

I recently had a problem with Cabelas (see 22 ammo thread) but I guess I was not that surprised. Thyey will still get the bulk of my business as I have been a satisfied customer for years. It happens.
