I bought a Beretta 21a bobcat .25 from a buddy for really cheap. Thought it would be a nice little gun to keep in my pocket for going fishing. Anyway, took it out to the range to give it a go. After the 5th shot, I felt a sharp sting under my right nostril on my top lip, then felt something hit my foot. Looked down and there was the firing pin and spring sitting on my shoe! The tiny little roll pin that holds the firing pin in sheered off and sent the pin flying back into my face. Good thing I was just playing around and not in a self defence situation!
Lesson learned...always inspect every used gun you get, no matter how nice they look.

Yes, very lucky for you'always better to find out at the range instead of dark alley.

That really sucks, but thankfully it sounds like you weren't injured. It could have been much worse. This is just another example of why you always wear eye protection on the range! You never know what might come flying up range instead of down!

Man, don't feel bad.
There is no way anything less than a complete disassembly would have found that flaw.
Unfortunately, stuff happens.
Look at the bright side.
At least you found both the spring and the pin.
A miracle in it's self.

Four strikes! Beretta Bobcat, .25 ACP... Might have well as surrendered at the outset, like the French...

HaHa! Very true. Not much of a gun, but I'm sure it'll kill a skunk or rat if I need to. Just sucks that it costs more to shoot this little thing than my .45! 20 bucks for a box of 50 FMJ....stupid.
