Has anyone purchased the OD handle and put on there rifle? I would really like to see a pic of the OD handle installed.

You could get a finished one and acid etch or sandblast the anodizing off. Powder coating, paint and ceracoat will all be too thick without removing some material from the charging handle.

Agreed. I'd like to know on this ASAP as I am about to pick up the Doomsday Tactical one, but wouldn't mind one a bit smaller or with a color option.

CHARGING HANDLE

As bright and shiny as possible so everyone will know I paid more than them, so it must be better. About one in camo, if you bring a 22lr on a spec ops (at the mall) and "get made" cuz your charging handle isn't camo, do you get your money back? YES the stock black plastic one is cheap and flimsy but isn't the rest of the gun also? Face it, it's a 22lr NOT a military gun of choice. BUT to each his/her own & it's your $. If it will better your times at say a steel challenge, then Yes by all means go for it. For the $ some are paying to make a 22lr tacticool, you could buy the real deal in 223,6.8,300 whisper. Guess I don't get it.

$$$

If the cost difference between 22lr and 223 ammo is an issue for you, how can you justify/afford to pay that much more $ to make it tacticool? mine works (pretty much as good) right out of the box as one all Ninja'd out, with a few exceptions like a trigger etc. that really won't be very visible anyway.

Mine isn't tacticool. I have an angled grip on it, that's all. Besides, the cost of this charging handle can be made up by the savings from only a few boxes of .223/6.8/300.

MONEY SPENT WISELY

YUP a set of 3,000$ spinners on a 500$ car, or a set of gold grill caps for your teeth might impress some. I guess I'm old fashioned but if it doesn't improve performance, TO ME, it's a waste of money, I could be spending elsewhere, like ammo, a new gun etc. As I said previously "it's your money to spend as you wish".

I'm 32 and I'm the same way as you it seems so you're not old fashioned. Function over form is what I live by.

We all use our guns in different ways so the fact you don't get it is perfectly logical. Thanks goodness we live in a country where you don't have to "get" what I or others do with our play money.

For me, I have had a 5.56 for much longer than my 15-22. Of course the 15-22 is not a military gun of choice. I don't recall anyone saying so. What it is, and what I think it does better than any other 22lr, is that it is a great trainer for my AR. I know of no other gun out there that emulates the function of an AR better. I personally choose to have my 15-22 function as close as possible to my AR. You might think I'm playing dress up with my 22 but what I'm doing is making that 15-22 act just like my AR. For that reason my 15-22 wears all the same stuff as my AR... same CMC trigger, same stock, same grips & as close as I can get it, same charging handle. I am waiting for one that emulates my Raptor.

Now besides emulating my AR, my 15-22 wears some extra gear that is not on my AR. It has a suppressor so that I can shoot on my farm without bothering my animals or neighbors. You might think a quick release tactical light is tacticool, but it serves a purpose on my gun. My 15-22 with suppressor & tactical light makes a great varmint rifle for those pests that come up at night... such as coyotes and armadillos. I have no intent on storming thru some dark room like a commando or something, but if you have never tried shooting thru a red dot at night using your tactical light, then you have missed out on some great fun. Not tactical fun... redneck fun.

But besides what I do, if someone wants to play mall ninja, so what?

I might add that this part of the discussion is to see if Tacticool22 is gonna come out with a similar product to the Doomsday charging handle. The factory charging handle might just be perfect for you but if you shoot with a magnifier, you might change your mind. My Primary Arms magnifier is as far back as I can get it, so it hangs over the charging handle & is rather wide. A charging handle like the Raptor would be a great help for me.
