Are the DSS guns identified-stamped somewhere as such?

Didn't even know the Diplomatic Security Service even existed until you asked that question.

guskody, no markings that I'm aware of. It was the last revolver issued before the switch to the Sig 228 in the early '90s (I think it was '93 but don't hold me to that, I'll check with a friend of mine that changed agencies, he should know).

Definitely looks to be matte!

ANN-ANR would be a DSS but an AYY would be a CTSP revolver.

Love those smooth target (Border Patrol) triggers.

Oh the acronyms I could come up with.

Darn close.
Connecticut State Police.
Seems they had a thing for 'blued' handguns. Even their Model 66's were blued.

Maybe I've been lucky or it could be the smooth target trigger but S&W seems to have put a little extra into these.
That finish is tough as nails too.

Apologies for the slight drift but I'm guessing since the CTSP is a full police agency there'd be a detective/investigative division that would've been issued these?
