When you say open it up do you mean take apart more than cylinder open for cleaning?

Don't want to put words in his mouth, but I took it to mean take the side plate off and clean and then lube sparingly. That may improve it somewhat, but remember, that cylinder has a lot of mass to rotate with a trigger pull.

Adios,

I do the clean and light lube treatment on every revolver I bring home, new or used. It does make a difference.

I also agree with what was said about the much larger moving components contributing some to a bit heavier DA pull. A 1lb cylinder the diameter of a beer can takes a little more to get moving than a 4oz J-frame cyl the size of a golf ball.

But a cleaning and light lube in some key areas under the sideplate does help.

I would try and compare it with another x-frame, or measure the pull weight.

Smithing thread answer & how to evaluate a gun for purchase

I'm not a wheel gun guy. But you should check the final page of this thread: s-w-smithing/245362-460v-sa-trigger-pull.html

That individual seems to have as good trigger performance on his 460V as his other revolvers.

Help please:
I need suggestions on how to actually try a 460V, or equivalent trigger (other X frame?), that performs like that in the referenced thread. How can I possibly confirm that I can shoot one of these beasts without trying it?

Let me explain. I have essential tremor and the trigger pull on the rental revolvers I've tried causes me to have excessive gyration. As an aside my Glock 27 does not. Nor does my son's duty Sig in DA. But I require a bigger bore than I can get in an auto.

Do any ranges carry revolvers with trigger jobs? Doubt it, but ...

I'm looking for a bear gun, hence the 460V, and thus don't care much about its SA feel. Around 3.5# would be great though.

But, I'm not looking for a project gun.
Suggestions?
