I'm considering buying a new 586. Haven't decided on what barrel length yet, may get both 4 and 6 inch. Has anyone else bought one of these new guns. I sure do like the looks of the blue over stainless.

I own a 586 6" and a 686 4", both of them no-dash.
I prefer the blued finish on the 586, but I like the 4" barrel better on the 686.

How's the recoil on 4" with 357 loads?

I just bought one and love it. It's very accurate with 38spls, have not yet used any 357 mags. I got the 4" and planning to get the 6" as well. I love blued guns!

Have one of the new Classic versions in 4-inch barrel here, best 25-yard five-shot groups were a couple strings both at 1 7/16 inches with a Black Hills 125-grain JHP.

Did not try any .38s, just six different Magnums.
Not a bad shooter.
I've never liked that grip configuration, but there are many other options.

Had a 6-incher for a while, didn't like it. Too muzzle-heavy.
