After around 1000 rounds and several range trips the 617 is probably my new favorite revolver to shoot. Just pure fun without breaking the bank in ammo costs.

Other revolvers in the stable that I also love include:
6 inch Colt Anaconda
3 inch Colt Python
3 inch Smith and Wesson 19 Carry Comp

Nice! Picked up a 4" 617-1 in 2020 and it came with me for nearly every range visit afterwards. Then in 2021 added a 6" 617-5 and it became my most fired revolver since then.

Get yourself a couple Speed Beez speed loaders and a loading block! They are a 10 617s best friend!! Here is a picture of the 8 shot version I have for my 317 too.

Congrats on a nice gun. A buddy in CT just bought a new 4 inch 617 last week. He has called me twice now, heaping praise on its accuracy and shootability. This is from a guy who owns a revolver or two, and is usually pretty jaded about the "new" stuff.

Next item on my list to buy for sure!

I have the same gun for over 3 yrs now and LOVE IT. By far my most favorite. It's a tack-driver, it's fun, it's great as a training tool for my EDC 686's and around our little chicken ranch here it's quite often on my hip as snake medicine.

Looking fwd to joining the many 617 enthusiasts, ordered a new Model 617 4" and the Speed Beez setup that fungunnin described in #10 above. Should be in end of the coming week.

Congrats on joining the Club. A good .22 revolver is impossible to beat. "If I could only keep one" I honestly think the 617 would have to be the One. Cheap to feed, can handle most tasks and with skill will handle a lot more tasks.

Hope you enjoy it!! I'm sure you'll love it

I love my 617 and 648 no dashes. I just wish they didn't have the full length under lugs. 6 inch bull barrels are heavy enough

Full lug barrels seem to be an either ya lovem or hatem feature. I fell in love with the first Colt Python I ever saw, alot of it was the full lug barrel, and then with the 586-686 Smith & Wesson for the same reason. I like the looks and the heft. However, if ya don't like those two things, then the full lug barrel is just an ugly nuisance.
