Just happened to see one of these on the website and my dealer got 2 in and picked one up today. In a word-sweet. Cut for moon clips, no lock, PC trigger job, polished cylinder flutes, trigger and screws, custom grips, and goes for only about $150 more than a regular 642.
I will post pics and do range report when i can.

Cool. I was just looking at the S&W website yesterday and noted this gun for the first time. Enjoy. I am considering one myself. When you get a chance to take pics could you take one of the barrel crown? Thanks.

Product: Model 642

Pepvol- the OP said no lock. Plus cut for moon clips. Neither feature is listed on the S&W web site.

Well hopefully they will have plenty of No Locks too

Congrats Comet!

Eyeing this one for a while and I have one on the way. :D

It will go great with my GunSmokes. All of my IL models shoot just fine, so never worry about it.

I do wonder about moon clips though. Early Talo photos did show this model with moon clips. However, SKU 10186 doesn't seem to have them? I prefer it not to be cut for moons, to stay consistent (with my others).

I'm sorry , right or Wrong , I'll never have a S&W with an IL ...

Mark I was actually surprised when I first handled it because the Smith website said nothing about the cylinder being cut for moon clips. I like it because I keep a couple loaded up and its a quick and easy load/unload to carry and then to put away back in safe. Remember, you can use with or without the clips even if it's cut for it.
I put 100 rounds thru it today. The PC tuned trigger was as good as it gets a.d made it very accurate

You have any Pictures Cometpx ? This is one nice looking Gun !
