Nice. I have a 581-M that's a great solid revolver. I realy like the 581/681 line.

581 is blued 681 is stainless.

681 is same as 686 that is L frame, 681 have NO real sight(no adj. sight like 686)
581 is same as 586 in
all use same part only sight is not

L Frame. Serial number is AYRXXX which should put it around September 1987.
I have seen some 681s and 581s, but they usually go for a lot more. This one includes the box and everything else at a good price. There was a nickel 581 that got up as much as $425, but that didn't meet the reserve. I am feeling pretty good with this gun.
I was looking for a 581, but ran into this 681. I only have one other stainless gun. The 581 I saw was nickel but price was too high. I have a 6" 586 so I wanted to look for a 4" model. I ran into this 681 at a good price so went for it.
581/681 are the fixed sights version of the 586/686. The 581/681 models were dropped a while ago (as was the 586).
Ya done well. Great revolvers. Everything you need and nothing you don't. I'd never let go of my 681.
