Might have been mentioned in here some place, but I have had a 686 ND in my safe for years and years and ran across a post concerning the "m" here in the forum. I think some folks have elected not to return theirs to S&W for an upgrade, but I did. It's a well known fact among the experts, but for us that have not kept up with things over the years....S&W will pay shipping both ways and upgrade the gun and stamp an "m" in the SN area. I guess it was what one might term as a silent recall.
