Bought a new 910S yesterday for the wife... and am VERY disappointed... FTF, stovepipes and when it does actually work, the ejected shell either lands on top of the shooters head or goes down the front of their shirt... I had several land in my shirt pocket and I won't tell you what got the burn marks on the wife's anatomy.... did I get a lemon? What now??

Not having fired a 910S, I don't know where the brass is supposed to go -- but I would wager it is not supposed to come back in the shooter's face or fall straight down on him from on high.

Stovepiping? FTF? If you are shooting ammo of sufficiently high quality, this sounds to me like there is a problem with the feeding and extraction process. It's worth a call to Smith. To judge from the experience of others on this forum, when the company doesn't get something right before they ship, they'll almost invariably make it right when you return to them for further refinement.

Call S&W immeditately! They will make sure that it is up to speed and within spec. S&W customer Service is second only to Dillon!

Called S&W, told them of the problems, they said that should NEVER happen, told me to ship it in and I would have it back in a week... will advise...

I am sure that S&W will make sure it is up to par. Everything you describe is an indication of limp wristing. The only times I have seen brass in the face is when the pistol is allowed to twist and the mussel rise.

I was not there, but that sounds like the classical symptoms of "limp wristing" which will not have these results with a revolver. Not to be more of a jerk than usual, but if comes back and you still have a problem, you might want some one with more experience with that type of gun to try it for a magazine or two. Good Luck.

BE SURE TO GET S&W TO SEND A CALL TAG.

Sometimes they do not offer, you have to request one. Shipping a handgun is NOT cheap.

They have a special deal with UPS (cheap for them) and will mail you a nice little pre-printed, pre-paid label. HTH

Sailor2000,

My son has a Model 910. When he first bought it about five years ago he had the same exact problems you are experiencing. I bought a Wolff recoil calibration pack with five different power recoil springs. I tried each spring until I found one that made the gun work the way it should have in the first place. After replacing the recoil spring there was no more jamming or brass hitting him in the face.
