New 9mm Shield

Following the instructions on the manual, I noticed the picture showing this yellow thingy sticking out when locked open and looking down the mag well.
Mine is not, if I want to follow instructions and push down, first I need to pull the thing out and then down. this rod is sticking in
Tried twice, same thing. What to do?

Are you trying to take off the top end?

Yeah you pry it out with like a toothpick, there is no resistance.

It is the thickness of a paper clip and is attached at the bottom. You will need to pull the top of the metal piece towards the front (muzzle) while you gently pull down. It will pivot, arc, or turn 90 degrees. This is used to keep people from dry firing the gun to disassemble.
