Just arrived in the mail today...thank you hivel37...my new Model 19 .357 Combat Magnum. It came with Magna grips but am considering Checked Goncalo Alves Target with square butt. S & W Catalogue mentions " oversize walnut target stocks" and I want to know is there anything special/different in the stocks that are appropriate for this gun. Appreciate any advice/suggestions.
Thanks

Mine came that way and I found target stocks for it; same oil finish, "big diamond" checkering. I don't know if they are authentic but they look and feel good. I need to rummage through the Grip Box and see if those Magnas were numbered to the gun.

Well, the bottom line is what fits your hand, so your best bet is to try on the target grips---for size.

When it comes to store bought grips, S&W target grips don't fit me. The Magnas don't either. The Combat grips do.

Then there's a bunch of alternatives from the various grip makers----that are made to order to fit your hand. Herretts is probably the best known, and they have a LARGE selection---and have been at it for a looooooooong time. The one thing you can count is they'll fit your hand---no matter which style strikes your fancy.
