new AR

Personally, I'm not a fan of AR's, but have no problem with whoever has and uses them. If we all had and wanted the same things, what a boring world this would be. My tastes are not someone else's, and that's a good thing. While in the Army, I was assigned and used M16's. They were awfully good, well designed, reliable, lite, trouble free, accurate firearms. No one will ever hear me badmouth one. My government issued M16's served me well. These days, I have an awful lot of side and long arms. More than I need, not nearly as many as I intend to own and use. However, that having been said, I'm thinking of purchasing an AR. With the ongoing assault on OUR 2nd Amendment and Constitution overall, and the assault on "assault weapons", whatever those are, I'm seriously thinking of purchasing an AR. Why? Because I can, and it's my God given right to do so.

M&P 15 OR

I think you made a wise decision on the AR. I have had a couple and shot several brands but none shot as well as my M&P 15 OR. I have kept it as issue because I bought it to have a light compact and fast handling rifle. It is hard to resist the thousands of add on products out there but so far so good!

A friend of mine built his own and in the process he exceeded twice the amount I paid. We were at the range set up next to one another. I was watching him struggle to get 1 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards. He was quizzing me as to why I did not build mine. We swapped rifles and he was happy that he shot a 3/4 inch group with the same ammo he had been using! Being a little bit of a wise *** I pointed out how much better it shot and told him that's why I didn't build mine!

I've had my 15T for over a year with no problems. It shoots MOA or better and handles anything I run through it. I did install a Geissele Trigger. It's a good AR.

I picked up my AR yesterday and have cleaned it and installed an Aimpoint on it. I see now that I will replace the stock with a Magpul unless someone knows of a better one. that is without getting into the high dollar ones. Magpul run $56. So $40 to $70 would be my price range. Don't see anything else I would want to change right now. After I shoot some I may see a need to change something.

As good a reason for owning an AR as any and better than most.

I really like my Mission First Tactical Minimalist stock.

i had a Magpul on my 15-22 that I had moved onto my wife's AR that she built. We have decided that she needs the minimalist stock on hers, and eventually one on the 15-22 also.

Minimalist stock on the bottom rifle, Magpul on the 15-22 up top.

I paid $36 for mine. I have a friend that was able to get a discount on it for me. I think they are running right around $50 right now. If you want one that has paracord on it, it will be between $70 and $80. I've been meaning to weave my own paracord for it, Ijust haven't done it yet.

Rifle Stocks

looking that link up, I see they raised their prices.

Grover, you made a good choice picking up the MP15T.

As an experienced shooter, I too can attest that the S&W is, even as a bargain rifle, a great bang for the buck.

It's never given me hiccups and it's an awesome plinker. Keeping it light so I'm still using the magpul BUIS.

Keep in mind though, the rabbit hole gets deeper and next thing you know you're buying scopes that cost more than a rifle itself!
