Well, the wife decided it was time for a new Lincoln yesterday for her birthday. I told her to call Andrew, the salesman / friend who helped her with the last two. He sent her some pictures, picked up hers for trade-in appraisal, and left her a new one to test drive. Of course she liked it, so I told her to go ahead and do the trade. The new one is a 24, and since it's end of model year she got $9500 in various rebates / lease assistance payments. It's hard to beat a deal that nets her more than 20% off MSRP.

Anyway, the new one is basically the same car, but just a little more luxurious and offers a few features the previous one didn't have. This one has a 360 degree camera system, adaptive cruise, and a "panoramic moon roof" that the older one did not. She's happy, and I think she got a really good deal.

Am I correct that Lincoln does not make “cars” anymore? Just SUVs or Crossovers?

You are correct.

I believe that the only car made by Ford these days is the Mustang.

A few of the Lincoln models that were made in the US are now made entirely in China, same with Buick, then shipped over here to the US

Nothing rides as good as a Lincoln, IMO.

Be careful of moon roof leaks!

She previously had a similar roof on a 2008 Edge. That one never leaked, but the glass roof panels did jam partially open a couple of times. That was not fun, but turned out to be easily resolved. It's basically a front to back full glass roof, but only the front half retracts. I imagine it will stay covered most of the time. I think the only time the Edge's got much use was when we took our then young son to one of those drive through safari parks. It was terrific for that.

She tried to find one without the fancy roof, but they didn't have any she liked in terms of colors and features. They were either loaded down with unwanted options or bare bones (for a Lincoln) without some features she wanted. Shopping end of year you can get a great deal, but your selection may be limited.

My 2018 Lincoln MKX was a great car. I would have bought another but they eliminated the V6 and now don't offer a towing package.

So, I traded the Lincoln for a 2025 Caddy XT5. Overall, it rides and handles equal to or better than the Lincoln, plus it has all new safety features.. Buttttttt...

It's been in the shop now for a month with a transmission problem. It took weeks to get parts, and now it has an electrical problem that they can't figure out.

Maybe a 2026 Chevy Blazer in my future.

I always notice these Lincolns on the road - very pretty. Surprised and sorry to hear about the China connection! But such is life nowadays, I guess.

This one (Corsair) is assembled in Kentucky. She's had two similar Lincolns previously with basically no visits to the dealership for service, so . . . The new 25 Nautilus which Motor Trend named SUV of the year is the first made in China. It's beautiful, luxurious, and technologically quite advanced, but I wonder how that will hold up over time?

We are not fans of panoramic roofs but it’s hard to escape when you upgrade for other features.
Can I just upgrade with no sunroof at all?

Count me in with the "no pano roof" club. Sadly, they are all but impossible to avoid. Apparently, nobody asked us desert dwellers if we would prefer a solid roof.

Years ago I was looking at a new Mercedes Coupe. The one out front had a glass roof, so I asked to see one with a tin top. There was a significant pause and a look between the two salesmen. "They don't sell them like that, Sir." Truth was they didn't sell them like that in the US.

Ended up buying a Jag XKR instead. First time I took it to work I really discovered how the sunroof has become fixed in the American mind. One of the ladies said, "Nice color, but why doesn't it have a sunroof?" I replied, "The sunroof equipped model is called a convertible." I got called a smartalec for that.
