New Colt 1911 9mm's full size and Commander on shelves..

Blue Commander and full size 9mms were high $800s

The price would be right for me, but the Commanders are the lightweight version...alloy frame. As much as I like 1911s by Colt, I just prefer all steel pistols, (even though I have three Glocks in different calibers).

And if I'm gonna carry/shoot an all steel full size 1911, it's gonna be a .45, no ifs, ands, or buts. A 9mm doesn't have that much recoil and/or muzzle blast to begin with, so a heavy-framed stainless 1911 just seems sort of, I don't know, pointless or something. If I ever shoot an all steel 9mm again, it'll be an older Browning Hi-Power.

38 Supers

All steel 1911s in 45 ACP sure are nice and I have my share of them, but this one is pretty nice too: a Colt Super 38 from the second year of manufacture, SN in the 9000s.

Sweeeeeeet!

I've shot a full size 1911 in 9mm, it was a soft shooter. But with so many excellent 9's already out there...some even better than the full size 1911,...why bother? A 1911 is just supposed to be a .45. Anything else is just weird. My opinion only of course.

There is just something about the 1911 platform that draws you in.....just acquired a Delta Elite 10mm. My Glock 20 10mm will shoot circles around the 1911 but I just had to have one. Why not have a 9mm in a 1911 platform and one of the modern 9mm platforms as well?

I would like one of the 9mm Colts as a novelty. I have tons of modern 9mms. I like diversity. I wouldn't surprise me if Colt only made a few runs of these. Remember the S&W 9mm revolvers and the 10mm revolvers that never sold well but now have to give crazy money for. The 696 that never sold well? I just wish I had extra money for one of these colts but I have to keep some money available in case I find a 24-3 3 inch for sale.

I'd like to have one. I think my next purchase is going to be a Rock Island 1911 in 9mm. If I see a Colt in 9mm, I might go for that depending on what the price difference is.

Why? I'd like to have a 1911, but I don't want to have to reload for another cartridge. I already reload 9mm.
