New "gator skin" holster for a Model 39-2

I've had this imitation alligator hide, really thin stuff, and finally used a piece of it for a holster. I rarely make lined holsters but this was heavy leather lined on the outside with the gator skin. On the belt loop in back that top stitch line is where the gator skin stops. Gun is a vintage 1979 nickel Model 39-2 with Grashorn elk bone (not antler) grips.

I can never get my browns to come out like I want.

with black I can just keep slopping it on until it's black enough.. :D
I do that with black too. But I found this "dark mahogany" brown that matches the fake gator skin perfect. I don't dye much leather, usually going with oiled tanned in the sun. When we have sun, that is.
