Well folks, I finally saved up a few pennies and got me an M&P40 the other day. I am actually not a new guy, I just havent posted much. Mostly did alot of reading here. So far, I love my new M&P! I cant wait to break it in and get a real feel for the gun.

I got the model with no mag disconnect, no thumb safety and no internal frame lock and the newer style cocking shoulder rear sights.

The only thing I didnt get is a S&W rebate. I should have asked if there was one.

I heard alot about the APEX upgrade so maybe I'll give it a try? I carry the 4006TSWtactical and this is waaaaaaaayyyy lighter than that old stainless steel boat anchor!

no need for an Apex kit....go shoot it a lot.. You get better and so does your gun! Mine has over 15,000 rounds downrange and is still getting better.

I'm with "growr"..... mine is only 100 rds old and the trigger is smooth & crisp.........

Congratulations on your purchase -- I love mine! And I was thinking that I was the only one who liked the factory trigger just fine -- it's good to see others fell the same :). I'd try at least a few hundred rounds for sure on the factory trigger before changing anything -- I liked mine right out of the box.

Welcome. I like my .40 so much I rarely shoot or carry anything else. I think you will learn to like the factory trigger, it is just a different feel from the 3rd Gen stainless guns. In fact, I liked my .40 so much I bought a .45...and I like that one too!!

Enjoy.

Wow, that is great to hear. I dont consider myself a trigger diva so I think I should be happy with the stock trigger? (as long as it isnt mushy lol) I grew up shooting my dad's revolvers in the 80's and I have lots of trigger time on the old Beretta M9 from my military days so I am used to heavy both types of triggers.

Time to go out and break it in. Cant wait! Now I need a holster and a few more mags.

Hey djm, thanks for the rebate link. I am mailing it out today!!!

Congrats. I have the same gun. I found my trigger to be OK at best and upgraded with the Apex kit. The kit is fantastic but, my 3rd gen triggers are even better.

It was kinda funny when I bought it. The salesman in the gunstore had no clue how to field strip the M&P when I asked about the sear deactivation lever? He called over a senior guy and he said..."just pull the trigger like all the other polymer handguns!"

I said one of the big attractions of this gun is the fact that I dont have to dry fire it every time I field strip it. They both looked at me like I was crazy????

I knew what I wanted so I just ignored the comments and bought the gun. You'd think gunstore salesmen would take the time to learn about some of the most popular products in the store? (btw, the store was really small so it would be easy to learn about everything they had.)

Love my 40 Full Size so much, I just bought a 40 Compact. After that, it will be a 45 Compact! I bought the 40 series because I was able to buy 357 barrels for both. I also bought a Storm Lake 40 to 9 conversion barrel for the compact. I plan on using the 9mm conversion barrel most of the time in the Compact with Speer Short Barrel JHP ammo. Want more? Buy more!

I have had my M&P 40 with laser, what a great gun, the trigger is just
fine. I carry it all day, with a crossbreed holster super tuck, I love the gun.

I think I am going to get a Crimson Trace laser grip later on down the road. It looks like the best laser I have ever seen integrated into a gun yet. CT grips on a Glock look horrible!

I purchased my CTC grips for my 40c from ManVenture Outpost for $217 with $11 shipping, total $228. https://www.manventureoutpost.com/login.php?from=account.php?action= Which is a great price considering they're $299 retail. Look under Hunting/Shooting, then Firearm accessories, then Grips.

I'm very satisfied with them and how the pistol fits in my hand (they feel about between the medium and large backstrap) with them installed and into my kydex IWB (custom made) holster. I had to dremel a small portion of the holster where the light port is, but no big deal.

I was looking through my holster drawer and discovered a nice surprise. I had an Uncle Mikes kydex paddle holster for a Glock 21 just collecting dust and when I test fitted it on my M&P40...it fit perfect. It secures very well and will not jiggle out at all but is tensioned just right with the 2 screws for a perfect match.

Sorry if you all already knew this. Saves me a few bucks on holster shopping.

I tried my kydex holster for my 4006TSW but it didnt fit the M&P40.

I hope you like your M&P40. Picked one up myself about a month ago LOVE IT!! Next thing I'll try and get for it I think is the internal laser. Never been a huge fan if laser grips so the internal one looks pretty cool.

M&P

I love my M&P 40 with laser, what a great gun, shot about 500
rounds through it, works just fine. I carry it all day in a cross-breed super tuck holster.
