HB 109, sell a gun to a friend go to jail.
HB 514, buy a gun, wait wait wait delay.
HB 564, a bill to make it safe for criminals on school grounds, gun free zone of course.

In this climate of anti gun demands Gov Sununu`s vetos took guts. He did as he promised in the name of the NH and US Constitutions.

This is a victory for the people of New Hampshire! Keep up the good fight, I'm sure more will be coming as it seems that you have anti-gun nuts moving into your state plus money from Michael Bloomberg to try to buy elected seats and sway opinion via his Everytown for Gun Safety (or more accurately described as Everytown for Gun Ban) group.

I'm surprised these gun bills passed the legislature. Are you suffering from a southern invasion?

The southern sea coast area is like a suburb of Boston. Like Cambridge. Doesn't necessarily reflect the entirety of the State accurately. Yet.

Short answer: Yes. More moving here from Mass and more anti money pouring in.

It isn't hard to figure out how the bills made it to the governor's desk, since the legislature (the New Hampshire General Court) has been controlled by one party since the 2018 elections.

New Hampshire's a beautiful state. Not surprised people move there. One major reason is because the state doesn't tax retirement income (except for investments). For those people who care about the state's gun laws, New Hampshire doesn't require a permit or training to carry concealed. It is a Shall Issue state. The state follows federal guidelines regarding purchase age, but sets no age limits on its own. And unlike Massachusetts, there is no mention of a ban on assault weapons or the use of a registry. Seems like New Hampshire still has it pretty good in spite of "more anti money pouring in".

Chris Sununu will probably be elected again, and sooner or later, the balance of power in the legislature will change.

These now vetoed bills were discussed briefly here back in May in this thread. In May, I didn't think the bills would pass, and said so. That's because I wasn't familiar with their legislature's makeup. But Jimbo728 was right about all of it, including saying Governor Sununu is pro-gun...and reading the letter sent to Jim, the governor states that he will work to protect New Hampshire gun owners' rights as long as he holds office.

So it seems this threat is (temporarily?) over for New Hampshire.

I don't live in New Hampshire, and wasn't familiar with their gun laws...but now I see that their gun laws are probably the envy of a lot of states, including my own. Plus, they're a Castle Doctrine and Stand Your Ground state?!?! Does it get any better than that? Click here to see a summary of their laws.

Live Free Or Die, baby!

Sununu is young. But he's very smart, and a true conservative's conservative. I look forward to the day when I can cast a ballot for his presidency. I think that could happen.

The irony of it is, before 2018, the legislatures make-up was very different. And we had D gov in then Governor Maggie Hassan. Who herself vetoed (twice) our constitutional carry legislation on her desk. Funny how things twist and turn. Now she's a senator.

Not the entirety but the cities of Nashua and Keene are gone and I could name a town, that hosted turkey shoots to fund the volunteer Fire Dept, that was invaded. Town Council taken over, range closed. Even changed the name of the road to the range which was Turkey Shoot Road. Then taxes soured to fund the VFD.
