Greetings ..

In Smith and Wesson's 2010 catalog they list two new J frame revolvers in the Pro Series Line.

They both are hammerless, lockless, have a fluted 2 1/8 inch fluted barrel and dove tailed front and rear sights. One model is offered in 38/357 and the other in 327 magnum.

Apparently they have not yet gone into production yet (even though they are listed in the 2010 catalog).

Does anyone have any insight as to when they will go into production? Can I pre order them somewhere - would really like to get one.

Thanks Chris

The 640 Pro is cut for full moon clips, where the 632 is not. The 442 Pro Series (sans lock and cut for the full moon clips) had a release date of Dec 09. I placed my order directly with Smith Dec 30th. As I talked to Helen Piquette of Smith Military sales those didn't go into production until June 2010. (delays in production) Mine was one of the first ones built and shipped to my LGS on 30 June 10. I returned home for leave on 1 July 10. I love my little 442 Pro for the few days that I got to play and shoot it before I had to return. I would love to see them make the 60 Pro without the lock and cut for full moon clips also.

Hi, new guy here but I was just looking at the 2010 catalog I downloaded off of the S&W website and it lists the new 640 pro series as having no internal lock. It's Product: 178044

I hope that helps.

PS I have one of the 442 pro series no IL guns on the way to my FFL as we speak. :p

OK So the next question is whether the 640 Pro is eligible for the $50 mail-in rebate.

The 3" 63, also introduced in this year's catalog, wasn't even in their build schedule, the last time I called S&W (Several weeks ago.). That generally means they are missing a part. The wait - the price (MSRP $869!) - finally got to me - I put a HiViz on my existing 5" 63 - happiness is 'getting by' for <$30!

I'm not sure the $50 rebate would apply for the 3" 63... or help that much!

OK. So I was looking at the picture of the 327 Magnum and it definitely looks like a Photochop job. It has the old Marcus Registratus markings on it. Also the ejector rod shroud doesn't line up with the frame.

I'm not bothered by the Photochop. All I care about is the final product.

I have to admit that a no lock 632 would make an awesome carry piece.
