The rig I ordered from Black Hills Leather arrived after a 3 month wait, now I can carry my L-Comp for work. It's a simple, plain-clothes style belt/holster/ammo pouch/cuff case set, in my job I don't generally carry a "bat belt" loaded with stuff. It was made to my specs, the holster is an Askins Avenger style with a metal reinforced mouth for one handed reholstering, the ammo pouches hold two moonclips in each pouch, the belt is 1 3/4" wide and double thickness. Obviously everything is basketweave and the color is "dark chestnut". It is very comfortable and looks super sharp.
I wanted to show it off to people I thought would appreciate the workmanship so here's some pics:

That is a gorgeous rig.

Like you, I too wear just the essentials on duty - weapon, cuffs and a spare reload. I also carry a Surefire G2 flashlight. I hear ya on the bat belts these kids all wear nowadays. If they fell in the creek, they'd sink!

Nice leather! :D

Thanks!
Yeah, anything else I need goes into a pocket. I don't want anymore junk weighing me down than necessary since I spend most of my time on the water and the mud flats.

that is a gorgous rig.. is that one that was the $199.00 specials?? i am looking at the same rig for my model 29

Similar, I ordered ala carte. I picked out the pieces I wanted and then spoke to Rudy, the owner, and gave him my specs. I ordered when he was having a 20% off sale at Thanksgiving, everything came to $254 before the discount.

Nah, they won't sink. Plastic, and styrafoam floats. But, I do have to admit, I did wear that stuff the last few years before retirement. Too bad I didn't start 25 years earlier. 10 knee surgeries, and one back surgery will do that to ya. But, we did have real live steel, wood, and leather.

Wow

That's a sweet looking rig. Looks like it was worth the wait and then some.

Love it! The Askins has always been a favorite of mine and yours is a beautiful, classic design. Would love to see a pic of that L-Comp too. It's my next S&W.

Congrats and stay safe.

I wish I could wear leather let alone a wheel gun for work..... Nylon Bat Belts and GLOCKs are all we're allowed to wear.

That's one nice thing about working for a small rural town, I have a lot of leeway when it comes to gear and weapon choices.

Very nice rig! I favor the avenger style also for both wheelguns and autos, I am going to have to call Black Hills about a new rig.

I love beautiful gun leather and consider it a most noble artform . I am jealous . I am sure LEO in my area are prohibited from using such beautiful rigs on duty . The fact you paid for it with your own hard earned money , would only matter if we were dealing with sane people . It is like having a Corvette patrol car .

Thanks again everyone.
I've always liked the look of the avenger style but this is the first one I've bought. It's also the first one Rudy made for a revolver, it turned out really nice. When I first put the gun in the holster I had concerns about retention because it fit rather loosely but once it's on the belt and you cinch it up it tightens around the gun and holds it very securely and it rides tight to your body. The metal reinforced makes one handed reholstering a breeze, it's really a brilliant design.

That's a really nice rig. I'm going to have to consider that for my PC681, although I can't wear it on-duty (Glocks only), but the holster, belt and speed-loader/moonclip holders sure look good to me.

Very nice rig, when I was a city kitty I had a belt like that and I carried shot gun shells and speed loarders and a pair of cuff's on it. I would leave the hand gun in the car and carry the shot gun with me.
