New M&P 22 - First Trip to the Range

I took my M&P 22 back out today, with CCI Mini-Mags in tow. Wow, what a difference. The gun cycled everything!! I had a great time with my new pistol. I just needed better ammo. For those of you new to the M&P 22, be sure to break it in with the CCI Mini-Mag - 40 gr. ammo.

M&P 22

Tuesday I bought a LNIB Sig Mosquito, it was a total disappointment, it shot well and didn't have any failures, but the trigger was pretty bad and it didn't have the build quality I thought it would. (So much for my spontaneous purchase)

Today I went back and traded it in for a LNIB M&P 22 and after a quick trip to the range was thrilled. Even though I lost a few bucks on the Sig trade, I got a good deal on the M&P and love it.

Fed it some CCI Mini Mags without a hitch, then the Remington Gold bulk stuff without a hitch either. Really impressed with this one, may scale up to an M&P 9 in the future. (I actually rented the 9 @ the range and it was nice).

Will be calling S&W Monday to see if I can upgrade the rear sight to the two dot ones used in the larger caliber ones. I've read they will drop right in without much trouble.

Recently got an MP22 myself, haven't shot it ( or cleaned it yet ) thanks all of you for posting all of this.
Will clean it thoroughly, run the CCI Mini-mags thru it for 400+ rounds, and see how it goes, can't wait. Own the MP40C, and love it, which is what led me to buy this one.

Just discovered this thread and thought I would throw my .02 worth in.

I just broke the 1000 rd mark with my M&P22 and can say this is a "best buy" in .22 handguns,
No problems to date,no failures to feed or eject.

First 200rds through the gun were CCI stingers followed by cheap bulk CCI Blazer and CCI mini mag ammo.
Just started into some WALLY WORLD Winchester bulk ammo which seems very smoky compared to the CCI stuff.

Only downside to date was getting a spare mag which took 6 weeks to come from the factory.

The pistol is accurate and I do believe I got my $$ worth !

My experience with the M&P22 is that, from the factory, it was loaded-up with grease. Way too much grease. It needed a good cleaning right off the bat. Put your ammo to the side for awhile and run CCI Mini-Mag 40gn RN for a few hundred rounds or more. After it's worn-in a little you may have better luck with your existing ammo.

I just bought one last week the insides were covered in blobs of grease as were the mags. After a though cleaning of the pistol I went to range fired 200 rds of CCI mini-mag 36grHP and 40 grSP the gun ran perfect,I love it...

I found that 44Mag.com has the M&P 22 mags. in stock. It took me three weeks to get one from Smith and Wesson, but had one in a few days from 44Mag.com.

I find the more I shoot my MP22 the more like it vs my MP9FS pistol, better trigger and much better audible rest on the 22,I like it...
