New M&P 45 barrel question

Hi all:

I just got an M&P 45 (still unfired) and noticed there's a small notch on the underside of the barrel.

Is this notch normal?
Please check if you would be so kind.

Mine has it and functions fine.

I just bought a brand new fullsize S&W M&P 45ACP myself and mine has it to, but its alot smaller of a notch than the pic you are showing from your barrel. Mine still functions perfectly though, but it is kinda odd that there would be that big of a machining difference on a M&P. But there is obviously.
