Hey gang,

Didn't see this section before I started posting but better late than never.

Name is Joseph, been living in Columbus suburbs for about 25 years now. I've been shooting for roughly 10 years recreationally but infrequently, and just recently was in a position to finally own my own pistol. Picked up a M&P .45 full size. Main use is a range toy, but will double duty as a home protection gun. Too bad it seems I picked a rather bad time to get more involved in the hobby. Last time I was at Gander Mountain they were charging $30/50 rounds of blazer target .45. Ouch! Best I've seen locally is WWB for $44/100 at meijer, and that's only when it's on the shelf (almost never). Alright enough boo hooing we've all heard it.

Anyway I look forward to participating on the forum and learning more.

Thanks!

Just went to gander mountain today. 99 bucks for 200 of blazer. Ouch is right. You'll love your 45 though! I have the compact version and its great.

Oh and sorry to hear you live in my neighboring state Ohio :p

Welcome to the forum. I too enjoy the M&P 45. I was lucky enough to get a UMC MegaPack of 230 gr .45 ammo at WalMart today for $107.00 (250 rds.). That made me happy; I was even happier when I also grabbed the last MegaPack of .40 S&W for my M&P Shield for $83.00. I haven't seen these at WalMart in the past 6 months.

I will say that I love the gun. When I began my search I was certain I was gonna buy a glock 17 or 21, as I had been renting them / shooting friends' for years. But after shooting/searching I realized there are more polymers than just Glocks. Rented the m&p a few times and fell in love w/ it's ergonomics, natural pointing. Not the gun I thought I'd be buying but I'm happy with my decision! Not bashing Glocks by any means, I still love the 17/21, solid pistols.

I have considered reloading already. Lots to learn first...

Welcome aboard from the great state of Pennsylvania!

My first S&W was a Sigma 9VE I picked up at a gun show, next I purchased a M&P9C, this past weekend I shot a M&P .45 and after 10 rounds, I wanted it. Luckily for me they had one on consignment for $539 with 4 magazines. Now to find some ammo!!!

I hear ya, I shot a bunch of guns but once I shot the M&P .45 the search was over! Today was the first day I shot it w/ the new Apex DCAEK I installed, man it was sweet. My old man put down his glock 19 after a bit and only shot my gun, haha it's not often YOU have something that Pops is jealous of!

Good luck with the ammo hunt. I pick up boxes here and there when I see them. If I'm lucky ill find it for about $22/box...

I've owned my gun for all of a month and am already considering reloading...

Welcome from Texas Joseph. Great forum for all things S&W, have fun, learn lots, share what you know.

Partial to the M&P 45 ACP as that is my duty sidearm and I love it.
