Just want to know if the newer M&Ps out there have the new and improved stock trigger yet? Better reset, etc. More like the Shield's trigger, you know.
Or have they not gone out to the market yet?

Others have said that they are being phased in. My new 45 FS with a fire date of 2/27/13 has a gritty trigger, so I assume it is the 'old' version. Others have posted that other models are improved.

i have both a 45c and a 40c, made at different times. The 45 had a gritty mushy trigger, but the 40 is fine.

My M&P 9mm. has a test fire date of 1/29/2013. The take-up has a little grit but has a good feeling reset that is short and audible. Different than my Shield that has no grit on take-up. I will be installing the Apex striker block and check trigger pull from there.

My 40C, fire date 1/28/13, has a much improved reset, very tactile and audible, but does have a bit of a gritty feel. The grittiness is smoothing out with use and I suspect it will go away with more use. It is a nice trigger, I like it.

Sounds like we have the same trigger, in that case I may wait on the Apex part because the take-up is getting a little smoother. I agree that it is a very good trigger.

Sounds like it's still hit or miss. Seems to me, the triggers on the .45s have always been mushier/grittier than the other calibers. Just an observation.
My search continues for a newer model M&P9 Pro Series.

I agree. It seems that since the 45 is on a different frame, it's taking the improvements longer to reach the pipeline.

I just picked up a new pro and the trigger appears better than my buddies m&p 45. That said it is not as as my 1911 but I knew it wouldn't be going in. Nice gun though, glad I got it

Any complaints about the trigger? What's your testfire date? Does it have a reset you can actually feel? I'm tryuing to decide if I should buy now or wait a few months for new production to hit the market.

I have a 2013 M&P40,
Was pretty gritty. Polished the trigger bar where it pushes the USB and gritty was gone!!
Went to do the burwell's filing and polishing on the sear and it came already lobed. So I just polished and didn't remove any material.
Later I rounded the USB some and that really helped the first bump in the trigger. Now you only feel the bump that fires the gun.
I'm a very happy camper.
My reset seems to be much better than what previous owners claim. It's still not quite a pronounced as a glock. But very noticeable.
The trigger still has a long movement before reaching the firing point. But the reset was much shorter than the glocks (w trigger jobs) that I compared my 40 to.
So is have they reached the full potential. No way. But seem to be making improvements.
Biggest thing is if they just polished a few spots at the factory people wouldn't complain about the factory triggers!
S&W!!! Do you hear me!!!?!!!! Lol

I have no idea why you guys make such a big deal about hearing and feeling the reset.Under competion or real life I can gurantee you that you will neither feel or hear the reset.
I shoot IDPA,USPSA,Steel Matches and sometimes Bowling pin matches and after the timer has went off I have never heard or felt the reset.Yet I have never missed having the trigger reset.
Don't believe me take your pistol to the range and practice fast double taps and tripple taps.Do a Bill Drill in 3 seconds or under do The El Presidente under 10 seconds and tell me how many times you heard or felt the reset.

Exactly.

And if you have any grit it goes away after a few thousand rounds...

I'm not a big "feel" the reset person myself. But hated the gritty feel. And if polishing the trigger bar where it pushes the USB fixes it. I'm all for it! That 2000-3000 rounds of smoothness for me :-)

Agreed... It only matters (if even then) when checking to see if a FS or C M&P has the newer Shield trigger, or the older M&P trigger.

I hated the old M&P trigger and didn't want to buy a pistol that I would need to add a trigger kit to in order to make it as good as other pistols that had better factory triggers. When I rented the Shield, I was surprised at how nice it was. It wasn't until after I bought it, that I read about the reset difference.

Do I hear it or feel the reset when I'm shooting? Nope... I just know I like it better than last year's FS/Cs and it gives me something to tell new buyers what to check for...
Nothing more.

There are many many shooters out there that do shoot far more accurately and consistently because of a good positive tactile trigger reset. It's toward the top of the many reasons why Glock has such a large presence at the pistol competitive matches every time.

Good news guys. Lucked out and won a brand new M&P9 Pro Series 5'' for $580 on GB +$40 shipping.
It has a test fire date of 1/29/13 :)
