New M&P Models With Newer Better Trigger Out Yet?

I just bought a new M&P 40 a few weeks ago & was very surprised by the short reset. I only have 400 rounds through it, so I'm still learning the gun. I missed the reset the first few mags through. I was waiting for a much longer reset & completely missed it until I tried a few dry fire pulls. I didn't realize that it could be that short! Once I found it, I was able to double & triple tap like butter. I really love it. I have noticed a little but of a roughness (grit), but that's working itself out nicely. By the time I finish break in, I have no doubt that it'll run silky smooth.

The reset on my Shield(6 weeks old), on my FS9(4 mos old) on my Pro(6 mos old) is exactly the same except that the Shield is more audible and a bit more tactile.

I can feel the difference between the three in the pull weight, but not reset during live fire.

The Pro and FS were gritty when I got them, but that is gone from both now.

The 9 Pro I just won on GB has the exact same test fire date. Thanks for your input here as it helped me decide to pull the trigger. (pun intended) :D
 
Just ordered a set of Warren Tactical sights. Fiber optic front and u shaped rear.
 
Just bought my M&P40c 2 months ago and I have already noticed the grittiness starting to go away. I have a few hundred rounds through it and there is already a significant difference in trigger pull. So I dont think there is any need to file it or anything.
 
Spoke to S&W customer service this AM and they claim there has not been a change to the M&P trigger series, they still use the one they have been putting in.
 
Seems to me it's the length of the reset that should be the issue; not whether the reset is audible. I know it's about 1/3 as long on the Shield (2012 S&W literature).
 
My M&P 9c was manufactured in 2/2013. The problem is it's my first M&P and I have no reference to compare it to. I have yet to make it out to the range. But I have heard about some changes and hope my has the new assembly.

It's in the catalogue I have at home. Kind of hard to link paper. It doesn't appear on their website: or at least I don't see it.
 
My digital calipers are very clear. They are within a few 100ths of each other, but the Pro is for sure shorter.

I don't doubt what you're saying is true. I just posted what I remember reading the night before in the 2012 brochure.

It's not just about the reset. It's my understanding the APEX DCAEK provides a smooth, consistent 5-5.5lb trigger pull with the advantages of shorter over-travel, as well as a reduced reset.

The factory trigger pull on most of my handguns are between 4.5-5.5lbs. The 9C I recently purchased was used, factory test fired in 2011, and in excellent condition. The owner told me he wanted to change over to all Glocks. I like my Glocks (G4G19 & G4G30) but must admit the M&P feels much better in my hand.

The R&R w/DCAEK, plus R&R w/TFOs at my local gunsmith should be ready next Tuesday. Then, I'll go back to the range to for a comparison & analysis of the results.

I don't believe they are lying. But just don't know!!

I have 2013 mp40.
I look at the Burwells trigger job how too page and....

-my sear has a completely different finish all over
-went to file my sear like his and it came that way. Less arch and more tear drop shaped where the trigger bar connets.
-my trigger asssembly block does not have a hole for the apex ram
-the ejecter slides out the front of my assembly only after removing the sear pin. His just lifts straight off.

That's just my observations from pics. Not even having 2 side by side.

Kmac If you ever have the gun apart again take some pics of the new sear. Did S&W change the rear angle of the sear like the APEX sear?
