Well, I've owned Glock pistols for a few years. I owned a Glock 17 (too big) and a Glock 27 with .40 and 9mm barrels. I shot the heck out of the G27. But, it never quite felt that great in my hand. I have a short index finger (I know a bit gimpy) and I had to twist the gun in my hand a little to pull the trigger.

Anyway, I just happened to feel up a Shield .40 (that sounds a bit nasty) in the gun store a few months ago and I fell in love with the grip. My hand wraps around it perfectly and my gimpy index finger feels 12 inches long on the trigger. Since then, that's all I have dreaming about. So, two days ago, I finally hid enough money from my wife to go out and buy one. Now, I am just waiting for the California 10-day waiting period to go pick it up.

10 day waiting period???? Holy smokes that's borderline criminal.....

In Texas I can waltz in any LGS, show them my DL & CHL, fill out the 4473, pay & walk out the door with my new firearm, all within 20 min..

Same here in Michigan, in and out with a new pistol in less than 30 min. Glad you found a pistol that fits you well. Post again when you get it. :)

Also, now might be a good time to order some Talon rubber grip tape for the Shield. :)

Yep, 10 days suck. Don't tell anyone here about the mag disconnect and Chamber Load Indicator. They will surely freak.

Meanwhile we wait for a favorable ruling in Silvester v. Harris and free the hostages.

Yeah, those two features probably explain why Shields cost more in California. But, I am pretty sure that I will be able to disable them. Although, in California, I think the gun wouldn't be allowed to be used for CCW if I did that. Not that I have any chance of ever getting a CCW because I can't show a just cause for having one. Ugh, I really hate the draconian gun laws in California.

Left the People's Republic of Kalifornia eleven years ago. The only thing I miss about it are the beaches and the weather. Can't believe how much worse it has gotten since I left. Higher taxes, more restrictive laws - not to mention draconian gun laws - and absolutely stupid politicians (and the voters who put them in).
