Hi Folks- I'm Joe:

New to the forum. I have an M&P 2.0 for the last few years, and love shooting it. Never any problems, very dependable, and I shoot well with it. Love the gun.

We just picked up an "E-Z for my wife's first gun. She was struggling a bit racking slides, so the E-Z was a logical choice for her first gun and weaker hands.

Out of the box we racked the slide back, and went to dry-fire, and nothing. Tried again, slide goes back ok.... but trigger doesn't move or fire.

So I took a look and realized the trigger was locked up in the fired position (rearward). The slide seems to be functioning ok,
it will lock back, and the slide lock will holds it back, and releases it ok.

Trigger just stays in the rearward/ fired position and doesn't reset. I don't know what we did, perhaps pressed the grip safety while racking it. Used to handling my M&P so my I could've done that without realizing it. But from other posts on the forum it seems the slide would have hung up and not the trigger.

So took it back to the dealer, he just shook his head and said the he will send it back to Smith and Wesson, but also call in a dealer inquiry.

Kinda frustrated-- brand new gun. I've never had any problems ever with my M&P shield, or other handguns that I have.

I usually not a fan of safeties, but thought it was a good idea for my wife to begin with. Hope I didn't make a mistake. Reviews on the E-Z have been stellar, but there seems to be quite a few posts in the forums about new gun problems (usually the slide).

If those of you who shoot the E-Z can share any thoughts on this I would really appreciate your insights.

Thanks for any input.

Joe

Welcome to the forum.

There's little we can do without pictures and some more info. Since you've sent the gun back already, I'm sure it will come back in fine condition.

OP, I have a few hundred rounds thru my EZ9 and haven't experienced any issues. It is also my first grip safety.
When I am racking mine, whether at the range with live rounds or at home using a laser system, I don't let off on the grip pressure. Seems that would be awkward, doing that during practice and drills. "Not" holding in the grip safety does come into play during the cleaning/breakdown process, did you disassemble and clean it before the dryfire attempts? Or did you work the slide/trigger where you purchased it?
Just trying to think if that could play a part somehow, mainly for future reference.
