Just got this one off layaway. Probably paid a little too much for one that has been refinished, but at least it is a nice job. Lettering is crisp and the blue is very well done. Action is oh soooo smooth and I love the 5" barrel. Just won an auction for correct stocks for it. SN is 1374xx, and I believe that would be around 1906 or 07.

I've greatly improved the look of blued hammers and triggers by carefully swabbing them with Birchwood-Casey's Blue & Rust remover. Pull them out first so you don't get any on the frame. Rinse and oil them before re-installing. You'll end up with a mottled look, but it won't look nearly as wrong as solid blue.

Thanks for the tip. Sounds like a plan. Also, if I am wrong, please tell me. The correct stocks for this are the convex top without medallions, right?

If it is from the range you quoted, it most likely had concave non-medallion checkered stocks which went until about 1910.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news. Those stocks on ebay are convex
non-medallions, made from about 1920 to about 1930. What you want are
concave non-medallions, made from about 1899 to about 1910.

If you only paid $10, you got a good deal on those stocks. If you
want to keep them, and convert them to the concave style, email me and
I can tell you how to do it. It will take you about 10 minutes.

Thanks Mike, but they will work on a 1922 4th change I've got, so Im ok. Where can I find a pic of what I will need for this? If I can't get them somewhat reasonably, Ivory Micarta may get the nod since it's been refinished.

DeaconKC:
This is what you would be searching for. In my opinion, it is the least common of the K square butt service stocks. Most run of the mill gun shops have no idea what they are when they throw them in the Spare Stock Box. Good luck. I think Mike's idea is a good one on modifying a pair of convex ones.
