New m&p9 shield issue

I just picked up a m&p9 shield and the 7 round mag won't click in if fully loaded. If I take the 7th round out it will click in. The 8 round mag has no problem at all. Any ideas why that is happening?

Slap it in with the heel of your hand....it'll snap in. It's normal, and will get a little better after the mags have broken in.

It takes an extra umph to load the 7 round mag. The spring is already at near max compression.

Click in? No, you won't be doing that. Pounded in? Yeah, that works.

Haha I have tried to pound it in pretty hard but didn't want to damage anything. I will try harder next time and see how it goes.

New Shields are tighter than a tic. Magazine springs and the recoil spring group are really tight sometimes. I'm a very experienced shooter and was shocked the first time I tried to field strip my Shield 9mm. Just getting the slide to lock back took a lot of effort.
Once it's been shot a few times, however, it's just fine.

Shoot it, Shoot it ,Shoot it and then shoot it some more. Every spring will ease up. leave the magazines loaded to capacity all of the time. Be firm with seating the magazine, be aggressive when racking the slide to chamber a round. Don't baby it. Don't ride the slide.
