New member 6590

Hey everyone, new member here. I am considering on selling my S&W 6590 (and some others) but there is so much conflicting info. So needless I am confused. I guess I am looking for some "in the know" information and pricing info. I have attached a couple of photos with all that I have.
Thoughts?

RSR 6590. Not the most common gun in the world; you will soon get plenty of interesting details. Probably worth 700 bucks at least. ICBW.

Welcome to the forum Privatechef.

According to the Standard Catolog of Smith & Wesson, the model 6590 is an RSR transitional 9mm which is considered to be scarce.
If you have a copy or can get a copy of this reference, the information is located on page 387. Apparentley there is not too much information on these pistols and the only price range they list is $600 to $1000 for a new in box specimen, depending on rarity and well used "shooters" might go in the $325 to $450 range. Just looking at the pictures you provided, I would say this pistol would probably be in the higher range.....say $750 or so.

What it all comes down to is finding the person that wants it and is willing to pay for it.

Thank you for posting about your pistol. I keep a database of these and will add the details of this one to my list. Could you share with us a picture of the label on the end of the box. Mainly looking for the product code.

There are 12 RSR models and each model has a limited range of production anywhere from 10 to 500+. From what I have seen, the 6590 and 6591 have some of the largest production numbers but are still relatively uncommon as compared to regular production runs.

The guys here are pretty much right on with price. Definitely don't sell it with box for anything less than $650 and I think for the right buyer you may be able to get $750 for it.

Thank you for the additional picture. It doesn't get me much more info, but helps to confirm the product code which I am not sure I had definitive information about. Again, much appreciated.

Good way to put it. I do not disagree with the $650 to $750 likely selling price of the gun, but that does mean finding an interested collector of transitionals and not your average Joe collector or accumulator who really might prefer a nice condition 5906 for much less. Transitionals have not done particularly well at gun shops and shows around here. To get top dollar, this fine gun really belongs in an on-line auction or in a listing here on the forum.

Exactly. At our business, [8 stores, & 45 gun shows a year] this would be treated as a normal 5906, & priced accordingly. Put it on Gun Broker, & try to find a collector looking for that specific gun. GARY
