What is a Glock?

All kidding aside - I would base my decision on which one felt (and handled) the best. I never considered "after market" stuff in my decision process.

I was in your shoes, I got a M&P 40 full size. Why because I had some 40 laying around and I prefer the 40 to the nine for no particular reason just my preference. I chose the FS because I am kinda new to pistols and wanted a full size pistol to really practice with, IMO the smith felt better than the Glock, its American made, and I liked the serrations on the slide for a bit of flare. I know the trigger on the Glock feels better at least the reset is better IMO. But being newer to pistol shooting the trigger isn't that big of a deal right now. I got the range and carry kit when I bought mine and it came with 3 15 round mags and holster and mag holders and mag loader. Ive had it for about a month and have put close to 400 rounds through it with out any failures of any type.

I'm new to the M&P world having gotten a FS9 and a Shield 40 in the last 2 weeks

I've owned plenty of Glocks and while I do like my G30 and G19 I LOVE the way the M&P fits my hand and how natural the point of aim is

I'm sold on my M&Ps but my XD-S is a sweet one as well :)

M&P, Glocks and XDs are all good guns. Up to you, of course. Kinda like asking what's butter; Ford, Chevy or Mopar. (Mopar, of course, is the best. Duh...)

Get 9mm, either the M&P 9c or the Glock 26, which ever feels better in your hands and points more naturally. You can't go wrong either way.

Like said what feels best really. Nothing wrong w/Glock even own a couple, well down to one now.

M&P Pro is a sweet choice had the chance to shoot .40 Pro one a range members. I like the XDM 5.25comp also & own them. Factory trigger on the S&W is better IMO.

I used to be a Glock fan until I felt a M&P in my hands. I sold a G23 & G27 to fund a M&P9 FS & a M&P 45c.

Look at the M&P Pro CORE. Sounds like it fits your bill.

Both the M&P and Glock seem to be the top choices of Competitive Shooters in IDPA. Same at the local matches in my area. Without the optics.

There are a couple of versions of the Pro - Long and Standard size barrels.

You are probably looking at around $600-700 for a Pro with 5 inch barrel. Don't know price of the CORE. Haven't seen one yet.

Or you could look at a custom version from someone like 10 8 Performance for around $1500.

I would say the same, doesn't matter. I normally would say get a 9mm but now the way ammo is getting scarce, it seem 40 is on the shelf

I'm a revolver guy, I've always owned and shot revolvers. But, I find myself getting interested in the wacky world of polymer pistols.
I went to my local gun shop and tried a few on for size. Personally, I like the Gen 3 Glock19 grip but the trigger felt kinda like a staple gun. The Springfield subcompact had a better trigger but didn't fit my hand well. The M&P9C fit "just right" with the pinky extension and had a decent trigger. I know the trigger's gonna take some gettin' used to and as far as reset goes, I'm used to letting a trigger go fully forward to reset. I know there's a lot of aftermarket support for the Glock but I figured that it would be kinda silly to buy a new gun then rebuild it when the M&P had a trigger that already felt good to me.
I'm still scraping my pennies together so I haven't bought it yet but I'm pretty much decided on the M&Pc either in 9MM or .40.
Then it's time for a holster. I'll probably make a molded owb for it.

Get whichever fits your hand best, and offers the feature set you want.

For a full size pistol, the M&P ergonomics fit me the best, and I can shoot lead handloads through it. For a sub compact, the Glock fits my hand best, but I had to buy an aftermarket barrel to shoot lead.

I own an XDM 9mm and a M&P 40 Pro. Really like them both and feel good in my hand. Have not a Glock.

I went though the same decision making process and ended up with an M&P 9c. Later bought the M&P full size 40. I was initially going to buy the Glock mainly because it seemed to be the gun everyone raves about. The thing I didn't like was the ridges on the grip. Every time I picked it up my fingers were on top of the ridges. When I adjusted them where they were supposed to be - in the valleys the grip felt awkward and was uncomfortable.

The 9c felt really good the minute I picked it up. The FS 40 felt the same way. Now I shoot the 40 more than the 9c. It is hard to tell any difference in recoil between the two. I reload and have put a lot of heavy loaded (180 power factor) rounds though the 40 and am very impressed with how little recoil I feel.

I did put the apex sear and trigger in the 40 to get the travel and pull down. The original trigger was not bad, but I wanted shorter travel and lighter pull for target shooting.

9 or 40. Either caliber will get the job done but 9 is a bit cheaper for range shooting.

I disagree with "what feels good" that is not an indication of how you shoot it. Holding a gun in a store for 2 minutes will not give you an idea of how it feels when shooting it. A Jimenez 380 might feel best to you but it doesnt make it a good choice. In this case Glock and M&P are good guns. I would rent both, and in both calibers, and see what you shoot best.

I prefer Glocks but also like M&P.

You can't go wrong with either. Pick the one that fits your hand better and naturally points the best for you. I never feel undergunned with good 9mm ammo and practice ammo is less expensive than the .40 S&W, so I would recommend that for you.

I also prefer Glocks over M&Pto me the M&P is light on the bottom of the pistol not a good balanceI think full size would be better.

Any M&P is better than Glocks. Better trigger, more comfortable. I had Glocks, would never own another one after MP45c!

I was in the same boat recently looking for a carry gun. I shot both quite a bit thanks to friends; I can honestly say I shot both quite well, probably about even - but the m&p felt worlds better in hand and I went with the 40c.
