Guys I would like to introduce myself. I have been collecting guns forever and always over looked the Smith 3rd gens. My grandfather was a gunsmith and I worked part time at a couple gunshops. Fast forward to 6 months ago. I decided to give the 3913LS another try as the first one I owned years ago shot 8 inches low at 10 yards. WOW this one is dead on and a great carry gun. So I find a 4013TSW non rail I liked for cheap. Another great gun. In the last month I bought a CS9, CS40 and CS45 to complete the entire line up.

I stumbled upon a LNIB nickel 39-2 a while back at a shop. I thought "what is this shiny old school looking thing?" For some reason I bought it on a whim. The rest is history. 908, 4566, 457 soon followed

Been trying to find a 2nd or 3rd gen 59 series to no avail lately.

Nice pistols you got there. I've been looking at those CS 45's again too. Regards 18DAI.

Welcome to the addiction.

Previously I only had a Nickel 2nd Gen 459 (bought new) and one of the original Sigma 40F's. The problems I experienced with the Sigma really put me off, it was traded off towards a M57, the 459 went to help pay for a Series 70 Gold Cup. And stayed with S&W revovlers for the next 25 years.

I rediscovered S&W semi-auto's about 1-1/2 years ago in the form of a 4506-1. A 4006 followed, then a 4516-1. Recently in a fit of nostalgia, I bought a NIB 559.

If California hangun laws weren't what they are... I'd have more.

welcome to the forum and i'll also say nice guns.I've been looking for either a shorty forty ,cs40,and or 1066/76.this is the first of many S&W's to come.

Welcome aboard. I think that the 3rd series by S&W just may be the best semi auto handguns around. There is enough variety in models to suit every taste, and I have not found a bad one in the bunch-and Smith can produce a bad auto when they want to-remember the 61 22LR?

Well welcome to the forum , hang out here long enough and your addiction will only get better (or worse as my wife would say ).

S&W 3rd generation pistol? Who likes those old things?

Hi and welcome to the forum. My CS9 was my leap to the world of Semi Autos after over a decade of Double Action Revolver Shooting.I added night sights, custom delrin grip made by Big Dog,and conversion to DAO by the S+W Armorers.I couldn't be happier and my CS9 has taken the place of my Model 640 as my favorite carry gun.My only thought was why when I heard that S+W would now longer make the third generation pistols any longer.S+W answered me in the cold tone of buisness speak when they said the profit margin is far greater when making the frame of the weapon out of polymer.Even though the M+P is a good shooter my aversion to "Tactical Tupperware" remains stronger than ever........God Bless.......Mike

Stay away from the DAO's...they're all mine I tell you, all mine...muhwahaaaaaaaaaa

Nice choices so far. Just wait until you start in on the 45XX and 10XX series. You're doomed, doomed I tell ya!

I have recently got the bug as well. I started with a 4006, then a 4003, and now a 1076. All in 3 months.

Guys,
I've had my CS9 for several year now and love it. For such a small gun, its really accurate.

I do have a question for you pro's: I found my CS9 a little hard to take down in that you have to hold the slide in a certain position while pushing out the slide release lever (which is a pretty tight fit). Also during re-assembly depressing the internal levers (I don't know what to call them) while re-installing the slide appears somewhat tricky.

I'm always able to take it down and re-assemble it OK, but it seems like its a little harder to do than one would expect. Any suggestions as to what I could be doing wrong?

Thanks,
Jim

Just bought a very good condition 3913. I've been looking for one for a while and I happened to find this one at a local gunshop for $369 (plus tax.) I haven't shot it yet. I'm hoping to get to the range sometime later this week. I'm pretty jazzed.
