hello guys, im Donnie Dee Williamson, i have been a Police Officer for Austin Police Department for over 24 years now, was born and raised in Austin.

I have worked patrol, then orgainized crime unit under the narcotics/vice section for 4 years, then moved to mounted on the horses then back to patrol now in the mental health unit.

its been a wild ride but im getting tired of the current "leader" and will be fully retired in 4 years cant wait.... got in when i was young ill be 50 at 28 years service:).

i tracked down my issue s&w model 27-2 nickle that i have not laid eyes on in 19 years!!! have a deal to get her back in my hands and will be flooding the site with "commin home" pics soon as its in my hands...

i carry a colt 1911 series 70 gold cup for years and see that the ol wheel guns are making a come back.. autos are nice, especially if confronted by multiple subjects,

But the ol wheel gun will work 99 percent of the time dirty or not, and if you only have 6 shots it will make sure your on your sites and make you a better shot,,,, carried my 27-2 while i was mounted on horses stay tuned for pics ...;)

it has been brought to my attention my post appears to be a slam on our current chief, this was not the intent, i meant all the changes that has happened with police work since i started in 1986, sorry if it appears otherwise... topic is i located my old issued weapon, sorry for the confusion or mispoken words. those in police work understand all the changes taken place over 24 years.....be safe

I retired from active law enforcement in '97 w/30 yrs. service. Welcome to the Forum and I can assure you that the life of a retired LEO is great.

welcome... enjoyed reading your other thread about your re-discovery of your 27-2 and your deal to bring her home... really looking forward to pics of the reunion!
