Hey everyone,
Some of you folks may well know me from other forums, or from our Ballistics By The Inch project.
I haven't done more than browse here in the past, mostly because I keep busy as it is, and in recent history I've only owned one S&W personally (a 642). So while I've enjoyed some of the threads and resources here, I haven't participated.
But now I have a new project I'm working on, and because of it need to tap into the collective knowledge of this forum. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it.
I have heard back from the Chief's office, that my dad's revolver serial number was C484 666. Now, I am perfectly happy to order the documentation from S&W (in fact, I'll need it for the project), but I need to determine exactly what model it was. My recollection was that it was a 4" barrel, and I know it was a .38sp, and from my knowledge of firearms popular at police departments 40 years ago, I'd guess it was either a Model 10 or a Model 15. But if someone can determine which based on the serial number so I can fill in that portion of the documentation request, I'd be in your debt.
Thanks, all -
Jim D.
