New guy from the OKC area. I have a 642 serial # DCB4664? that I bought about 4- 5 yrs ago. In no way or fashion am I gun expert so I decided to join the forum to learn more about the gun I have. I would say I have less than 100 rounds. From what I have read, the recommendation is to dry fire it to help with the trigger pull. I do think its a bit tough. I have no plans to alter the weapon besides cosmetics. Maybe the grips or polish the outside to the barrel cylinder. The few times I have fired it I enjoyed it. I purchased this weapon because it was small lightweight and I did not want to mess with a magazine. Keep it simple. The few times I have fired it, I enjoyed it. Thank you in advance for your feedback.

Welcome from ND :) Lots of experts ( not including me) here and plenty of enjoyable S&W stuff.

Hello & welcome... I am far from an expert in firearms as I'm just learning to be more confident, even though I do have my CCW. I own 3 handguns... one of which is a semi-auto Sig, but I won't discuss that here. My two most favorites are my S&W handguns. I really like the J-frames and the first revolver I purchased was my Pro Series Model 60, which is a .357 magnum that also shoots .38 Special +P - she's dead accurate and a joy to shoot. She came with a pro series metal case, which was a nice benefit and work of art. The other revolver that I dearly love is my S&W Gunsmoke Model 637 Wyatt Deep Cover with a built in clip grip. It's a J-frame snubby .38 Special +P and great for tucking in a pocket since I don't wear belts in order to use the more traditional holsters. I do have a sticky for it if I so choose to use it.

Welcome from another J Frame fan. Buy some snap caps and dry fire the hell out of it.

Thank you for all the "welcome's" great forum.

@rock castle - Never heard of the snap caps- I'll get some this weekend and try them. BTW I've always heard that's it not good to dry fire a gun ?
