Hi All: I actually joined in May. I live in Long Island, N.Y. am 64 and a vet. I have patiently been awaiting my pistol permit approval. In the interim I have been trying to read and google everything and anything relating to handguns that I thought I might want. I finally received my permit on Thursday and after work, ran right over to my nearest LG and started holding handguns in my grubby little hands! I was off today, Friday, and spent the day just going to different shops and handling different weapons. I kept coming back to the same gun, S&W M&P9 which I almost bought today but didn't pull the trigger (pun definitely intended) 
I'm glad I didn't because tonight on Gunbroker.com I picked up "ANIB" M&P9 with a Range Kit (only missing the Blade-Tech Holster) for a total of $435 incl all necessary shipping and FFL transfer fees. It comes with 3 mags, ear plugs, Blade-Tech Double Mag Holder and grips for different size hands. The best price I got at my LG for just the gun today was $539 and the range kit is around $650.00. I'm so looking forward to getting it and going to the range. I think S&W makes great guns and that's why even before I had my license I became a member of this forum.
