New Member w/ New Gun

Hi All,

Been lurking for a while and learning from the folks here. Thanks for all the insights.

The information gleaned helped me decide on my first actual handgun purchase... M&P Pro 9mm 5". Paperwork submitted and gun shipping to FFL dealer; hope to be up and running in a week or so.

In the meantime... is it normal to suddenly be much more critical of the rental guns at the range once you know you have your own on the way? Guessing that's a yes.

Well, that probably depends. Providing it got proper maintenance, that rental gun might have a smoother trigger now after thousands of rounds than your out of the box pro. .

I never had the need to rent a gun before buying. I was fortunate to have friends & relatives that had just what I was interested in. I'm also a former Glock owner but gave those to my son when I retired from armed security & before we had a CC law. Each time we go to the range I shoot a mag or so out of my old G 23 & G 21. Still great but not quite as good as my M&P40 & 40C. I definitely miss having a .45 cal & my next buy will be an M&P45C, funds allowing.
