I have just joined the site. I have had a S&W 686 for about 6 months but I have had a .22 forever. Love revolvers. I usually get to the range twice a week and fire a few rounds. My 686 is just a bit better than a brick right now as I disassembled it and in my haste have lost a spring. I hope with other members input I can order the part I need and get back to shooting.

The easiest way to find that spring is to order a new one.

Give S&W a call. I'll bet they'll send you one.

Thank you for the welcome. My crisis has been averted. After crawling on my hands and knees and vacuuming I found the spring inside the trigger mechanism where it was supposed to be. My old eyes just needed a bright light. It is back together and functioning normally. The original problem was the extractor had become loose and I couldn't open the cylinder (fully loaded). I eventually figured out if I slowly rotated the cylinder the extractor tightened up enough to allow the cylinder to open. Nothing like a revolver hitting where you are aiming.
