Don't know if I'm being picky, but how perfect are these finishes supposed to look? This gun was advertised as being "mint" but I see some places where it looks as though there is nickel missing on top of the barrel. Also, on the left side of the gun the finish has some speckles in it that the other side does not have. Almost as if that side was left touching something when it was stored.

Sorry it does not look "mint", the finish may be damaged from being stored in contact with something. Polishing with Flitz may remove the speckles.

"Mint" isn't a recognized classification of firearm condition. Its simply a superlative like "nice" or "pretty".
This website shows the commonly recognized terms for rating condition of used firearms. NRA Condition Standards for rating firearms.
Blemishes should be expected on used firearms unless rated as NRA "New" or NRA "Perfect" or some say "Like New". If your pistol would have been rated with a recognized standard it would likely have been NRA Excellent.

Should I be concerned about the finish as it is? I just don't know enough about nickel to know if what I see is a problem.

Keep the solvents far away from that finish. It'll get underneath the nickel and cause severe damage.
A mint revolver would not have them imperfections.
